SharePoint Online Backups
Today, we cover some of the options for backing up SharePoint Online content:
What you get free from Microsoft, and paid offerings from SkyKick, CloudAlly, DocAve and Metalogix.
Microsoft keeps deleted user content, for free, in the Recycle Bin for 93 days. (http://1jj.uk/spobin)
SkyKick is a paid, subscription, cloud-based service where you can bring your own Azure storage. Up to 6 backups a day, of all your List, Library and Subsite content.
CloudAlly also offers a subscription service with a similar set of features, but you pay per gigabyte and get one scheduled daily backup.
DocAve from AvePoint again offers a cloud service with a subscription model with a slick desktop app. They’re one of the biggest players in SharePoint backup world, and have been around for years.
Essentials from Metalogix however, is a product-based offering. Install this on a VM in the cloud – and configure your own backup schedule. Use local storage or bring your own Azure storage account.
All of these offer good quality, high fidelity backup.
